The “Sun and Moon Harmony Serving Plate” is a product of Meizan Kiln, a Shigaraki-ware producer with over 400 years of history. Founded in 1622, Meizan Kiln began when its first master, Ishino Isuke, was commissioned by the Tokugawa Shogunate to create tea jars and was honored with the title of “Tea Jar Craftsman.”
Meizan Kiln’s artisans continue to craft each product with exceptional care and skill, relying on their honed intuition and the tactile feel of the clay. While meeting standardized specifications, each piece carries unique variations that reflect the warmth of human touch and the depth of traditional craftsmanship.
With the Hitotsuki series, Meizan Kiln brings a blend of heritage and artistry to modern dining, creating pieces that resonate with tradition and offer lasting beauty.
